⚡ 1. What is Net Metering?
Net Metering means:
You consume electricity from the grid when your solar is not enough (night/cloudy time).
You export extra solar power to the grid during the day.
A bi-directional meter records both.
🔄 2. How Units Are Calculated
Your meter tracks two things:
Import Units (kWh) → Electricity taken from DISCOM
Export Units (kWh) → Solar power sent to DISCOM

Import Units – Export Units
📊 3. Billing Example
Let’s say in 1 month:
Imported = 500 units
Exported = 300 units
👉 Net Units = 500 – 300 = 200 units
✔ You will pay bill only for 200 units
💰 4. What if You Export More Than You Use?
Example:
Imported = 300 units
Exported = 500 units
👉 Net = -200 units (surplus)
✔ This extra 200 units:
Either carry forward to next month
Or settled yearly (depends on state policy)

Even if your net units become zero:
You still pay:
Fixed charges
Meter charges
Taxes
